Granting and Revoking Patient Consent
The Granting, Revoking, Opting-in, and Opting-out options in a patient demographic file controls the flow of information to sources that are authorized by the patient either explicitly or implicitly.
Patient Consent Definitions
Term | Description |
No Selection | No selection is the default setting. This indicates that the patient has NOT consented NOR have they been solicited to share their personal data. |
Opt-in |
To "Opt-in" indicates that the patient has provided some form of expressed consent to share their personal information The date that the patient granted consent will be displayed in green on the patient’s demographic profile. |
Opt-out |
To "Opt-out" indicates that patient has proactively refused to share OR has revoked their consent to share personal data. The date that the patient opted-out their consent will be displayed in red on the patient’s demographic profile. |
Clear |
Selecting Clear before an Opt-in or Opt-out is saved will reset any selection previously made without persisting any record. WHEREAS selecting Clear after an Opt-in or Opt-out has been saved will “delete” the previously granted consent and render an appearance that no selection has ever been made. This action is logged and is not visible to the user. |
Granting Consent
- Open the Demographic Edit page or Create a New Demographic
- About 2/3 down either page, check “opt-in” next to the appropriate consent
- Save
- The patient consent date will appear in green text on the Demographic Summary page.
Revoking Consent
- Open the Demographic Edit page
- About 2/3 down either page, check “opt-out” next to “Sunshiners Frailty Network”
- Save
- The patient opt-out date will appear in red text on the Demographic Summary page.
